5131462Blackinton Silver & Silver Gilt Cigarette Case Early 1900s.  A sterling silver cigarette case with silver gilt interior. The exterior is monogrammed/initialed with ornate script letters EIR. It has a rectangular form with rounded corners and a spring-hinged cover. Hinge cover opens with a push button which is secure with no play. Marks: STERLING, the horizontal sword (hilt on left) through the block letter B, for R. Blackinton & Co., North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and the number 303. The original B pierced by a sword trademark was used until 1900. Minor surface scratches and slight crazing commensurate with age.
