PBA202Art Nouveau Double Swan Brooch with Faux Jade. This gorgeous circa 1900 Art Nouveau brooch no doubt embodies the powerful love represented by two swans framing a bezel set oval simulated jade cabochon. The symbolism of the swan embodies love, purity and chance. Jade is said to be a symbol of energy and beauty, as well as power. Swans were a particular favourite in the Art Nouveau period as they were considered to be both majestic and elegant and by their very nature were also, with their long sinuous necks, a perfect example of the exaggerated sensuous swirls and tendrils that were the hallmarks of this decorative style. The unrestrained exuberance of form, especially line, a flowing curvilinear, is so well executed in the undulating engraved border of this outstanding brass sash brooch. width: 2-1/2", height: 1-3/4".   flipped,   side view ,   undulating border$ SOLDArt Nouveau Double Swan Brooch with Faux Jade
