The sinuous forms of Art Nouveau were the hallmark of Europe's and America's boldest and most fashionable style at the turn of the 19th century and are deftly demonstrated in this gorgeous die-struck woman's profile with flowing hair in an open frame with layered curliques. This showy sterling front portrait pin, circa 1910, is from a French design and is fitted with a c-catch and flanged hinge. Marked STERLING FRONT on reverse with a star punch mark for the maker (unknown).
